A Leprechaun’s Lament

Book Description   A stipulation of the Patriot Act gave Chief Sam Jenkins an easy job; investigate all the civilians working for the Prospect Police Department. But what looked like a routine chore to the gritty ex-New York detective, turned into a nightmare. Preliminary inquiries reveal a middle-aged employee didn’t exist prior to 1975. Murray McGuire spent the second half of his life repairing office equipment for the small city of Prospect, Tennessee, but the police can’t find a trace of the first half. After uncovering nothing but dead ends during the background investigation and frustrations running at flood level, Jenkins finds his subject lying face down in a Smoky Mountain creek bed—murdered assassination-style. By calling in favors from old friends and new acquaintances, the chief enlists help from a local FBI agent, a deputy director of the CIA, British intelligence services, and the Irish Garda to learn the man’s real identity and uncover the trail of an interna

Twisted (Tracers #5)

Book Description   Motive, opportunity, and no alibi—it seems close to a slam-dunk. But while rookie detective Allison Doyle’s department has ID’d a suspect in a young woman’s vicious murder, she is uneasy. Then legendary FBI profiler Mark Wolfe shows up with a startling theory: if he’s right, the real murderer is an elusive psychopath just days away from another kill. Using Allison’s contacts at the Delphi Center crime lab, Wolfe is finally in striking distance of the monster he’s pursued for ten years. Except that as they work together, Wolfe finds the ambitious, stubborn woman a tempting distraction. And with this brutal predator, every thread of evidence can make the difference between being the hunter . . . and the prey. Book Review   Even though this was not the first in the series, I LOVED IT!!  I was caught up in the story from the very beginning.  I could not and did not want to put it down. First off, I absolutely loved Mark.  He was such a great character.  I

A Sliver of Shadow

Book Description   Just when her new life as a TouchStone — a mortal bound to help OtherFolk cross between Faery and human worlds — seems to be settling down, Abby Sinclair is left in charge when the Protectorate, Moira, leaves for the Faery Court. And when the Protectorate’s away…let’s just say things spiral out of control when a spell on Abby backfires and the Faery Queen declares the Doors between their worlds officially closed. The results are disastrous for both sides: OtherFolk trapped in the mortal world are beginning to fade, while Faerie is on the brink of war with the daemons of Hell. Along with her brooding elven prince Talivar and sexy incubus Brystion, Abby ventures to the CrossRoads in an attempt to override the Queen’s magic. But nothing in this beautiful, dangerous realm will compare to the discoveries she’s making about her past, her destiny, and what she will sacrifice for those she loves. Book Review   This is the second book in the series.  I just revi

At Tildy’s Thrift

Image
Book Description   Although the shop is said to be haunted, Tildy's is still patronized by customers of every stripe imaginable. Strange things do happen, even with the presence of the gospel trio who work in the back to check in donations. Someone or something is bent on taking down Tildy's bitterness over childhood bullying due to a physical deformity and racism. Is there a Nephilim about? The little, economically-depressed, Southern town of Hortonville has a lot to deal with, and they must find a way to overcome. Book Review   This was definitely a short quick read.  When I say short, I mean really short.  It was only 100 pages long.  The story did drag in a few places, but otherwise I really liked it.  The characters were fun.  I think Miss Maxie was my favorite.  I could just picture her house decorated from stem to stern with nothing but Christmas items all year long.  I do feel that the author could have built up a little more suspense as to what was goin
