Image
Book Description   Scotty and Charley are headed for Marshall, Texas, with Biker Guy once more close on their trail. As Scotty tries to come to terms with the reality of her parents’ deaths, she grows friendly with the locals. That makes staying hidden challenging. But there’s got to be more to life than fear, and through new friendships, Scotty learns that this prayer thing might work after all. Will prayer be enough when the situation is life and death? What happens when Biker Guy finally catches up to her?   Book Review   This is the second book in the Hollywood Nobody series.  I already did a review on the first book, Hollywood Nobody . Once again, I read this entire book in one sitting.  I just could not put it down.  In the last book we are left off with Scotty and Charley being chased down by Biker Guy.  We are unsure of who he is, but we have an idea of why he is chasing after them.  This book you will have that one blown wide open.  And let me tell you,

B is for Books

Books have always been a major part of my life.  My mom used to sit and read to me when I was little.  Then as I got older, she made sure that there were always books in the house that would peak my interest.  Some of my favorite books as a kid were Ferdinand The Bull , An Invitation to The Butterfly Ball , The Ice Cream Cone Coot , and the Read About Me series.  There is one book in particular that my sister and I can’t remember the name of.  I am not even sure how we got on the subject of it.  Back in the 80s, we read a sci-fi/fantasy book that was set at the universe’s largest mall.  The main character was a guy who was on his way to buy squash shoes.  He had to explain to several people that they weren’t shoes to play squash in, but shoes that were made of squash.  There were many hilarious things that happened to him in the story.  Unfortunately, we can’t remember the name of the book, the name of the author, or the name of the main character.  So we are at a loss as to bein

It is a very small book that packs a powerful punch.  There are several chapters that are centered around learning how to attract wonderful things in your life.  Each chapter is done in the same manner.  On the left page is a beautiful picture with a quote directly relating to the material.  On the right hand pag

Like all Green Toys products, our Indoor Gardening Kit is made from advanced environmentally friendly materials, helping to reduce fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions, all in the name of Good Green Fun! Product Review   This kit was an easy to use, fun way to teach the kids about plants.  Almost everything you need is included with the kit.  The only thing you need to supply is water and sunlight.  Of course, you want to make sure that you do this in an area where you don’t mind a little mess.  We spread out an old table cloth on the floor while we were working on this.  That way, we didn’t have to worry about water spilling on the floor or dirt getting anywhere.  All the materials are made of a thick recycled plastic.  There isn’t any chances of your child getting hurt on the parts.  The instruc

A is for Autoimmune

I am taking part in the A to Z blogging challenge.  This is an interesting challenge in which we blog each day of the month (except Sunday) with a different letter of the alphabet.  So stay tuned to see what I come up with for the rest of the alphabet. Today’s post is brought to you by the letter A.  Autoimmune diseases are something that I know way too much about.  There are many different types.  The first thing to know about autoimmune diseases is that they are genetic.  They are usually passed down through the female line.  Even though a parent has one specific autoimmune disease, it does not necessarily mean that the child will get that same one.  A perfect example would be me and my mom.  My mom was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 16.  Her disease is extremely debilitating.  She was in a lot of pain from the onset. Whereas, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and eventually Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy much later in life.  I had signs of Hashimoto

Review–Fox In A Box

Image
Product Description   A highly pigmented multi-color powder compact that will surely bring out your inner foxy lady. Each box contains coordinated shades that blend together perfectly and a custom Hard Candy applicator brush. Sweep across chin, cheeks, and forehead and unleash the foxiness in you! Product Review     The first thing you notice about this product is how adorable the box is.  Before picking it up and unwrapping it, I was worried since it was a cardboard box.  I was afraid it wouldn’t be able to stay closed and I couldn’t carry it with me for make-up fixes.  I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out how wrong I was.  The box has a powerful magnet in it that helps to keep it closed. The colors I received are called Truth or Dare .  The brown color can be used alone as a bronzer.  The pink alone can be used as a blusher.  Or you can blend the two together to create a whole new fun look. There are so many fun, flirty products that Hard Candy offers.  Ju

Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia--her demon father left it to her when he died--but someone stole it recently. And that can't be good. Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery and find the thief. At the same time, she's fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade--her favorite shadow demon. Rumor has it that Val will lose her part-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him. With a crow

Review–Bite Me

Image
Book Description   Young Adult Vampire Hunter A Fictionwise Fantasy Bestseller An edgy book for teens that spans the gap between YA and adult fiction. Life after high school is tough enough without having to go 15 rounds with your inner demon. Val Shapiro is just your ordinary, part-demon, teenaged vampire hunter with a Texas drawl. And a pet hellhound named Fang. Soon enough she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not. Book Review   This is the first book in a series by Parker Blue.  I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had never read anything by this author, but I wasn’t disappointed. I felt that the characters were extremely likeable.  My favorite has to be Fang, Val’s half-hellhound terrier.  There was a great bond between them due to their telepathic communication. There was quite a bit of action in this book.  And I was extre

Early Review–Swept Away

Image
Book Description   Decisions, decisions! How is a girl supposed to choose? Lessons of right and wrong are put to the test in the Scenarios series, where you can test your decision-making abilities in an eye-opening, but safe, way. Each book follows a character up to the point where she has to make an important, life-changing decision—then it’s your turn to choose. Will your choices lead to a happy ending? Book Review   I had already reviewed one of the other books in this series, Dare To Be Different .  Once again, even though it is touted as being interactive, the only interactive part is at the end of each story.  You get to choose how they end.  It would have been nice if you could have picked along the way so you can see how different decisions can affect things differently. Even though this book is geared towards tweens, I felt that it might have been more towards actual teenagers.  One of the two stories deals with premarital sex and how you get pressured into hav

Review–Therabreath Toothpaste

Therabreath Toothpaste is designed to control the anaerobic bacteria that causes bad breath. Buy it today, use it regularly, and you'll breathe easier and smile more often. Product Review   One of the things I inherited from my mom are bad gums.  In fact, when she was pregnant with me, she had to have all her teeth pulled and start wearing dentures.  All because her gums were bad. In the last few years, I have noticed my gums receding and bleeding quite a bit.  It has been rather worrisome for me.  I had tried all the big brand named toothpastes and they just didn’t seem to help. I found out about this toothpaste and approached the company to see if I could try it for my blog.  Thankfully, they agreed. The toothpaste is a thick clear gel.  You don’t need to put much

In a special twist, readers have the opportunity to make key decisions for Cinderella and decide where she goes next—but no matter the choice; the result is a story unlike any fairy tale you've ever read! Book Review   So this brought me way back to the 80s.  I used to love those Choose Your Own Adventure stories back then.  This one was no different.  One thing I really loved was the fact that Cinderella was no longer a wimpy girl who was just sitting around waiting for her prince to come.  Instead, she finds strength within herself.  I love the

Review–A Conversation With God

Image
Book Description   A front row seat to a fascinating conversation between God, Jesus, and other biblical characters answering important questions about life and faith. A Conversation with God allows readers a one-on-one dialogue with God, his son Jesus, and other important men and women from the Bible as they respond to questions and concerns relevant to the Christian faith. The questions, in some cases hard-hitting, cover issues that have troubled believers and seekers since the beginning of time. Each answer is based on Scripture and written with the warmth and intimacy of a Heavenly Father relating to His child. Categories and sample questions include: *God, how can we believe that You created us? *Why weren't all early writings included in the Bible? *How should we prepare for the end of the world? *Jesus, can I lose my salvation? *What will we look like in heaven? *God, does choice extend to abortion?
