Review - Poets Translate Poets

Disclaimer:  I received this book free from Syracuse University Press in exchange for an honest review.  I did not receive any form of compensation.

I have always loved poetry.  I didn't really matter what type.  I have read many poems that were originally written in other languages.  Each time a different translator writes their version, it can alter the meaning and symbology of the poems.  This grouping of poetry is written so that the translators are actual poets themselves.  This has a huge impact on being able to view the poem as it was meant to be viewed.

This book features poems from all different eras and countries.  There were more French poems represented then any other country.  I know that in the past, France was known for its poems and literature.  It would have been nicer to be able to see more poems from a wider range of countries and languages though.

Overall, this was a wonderful book full of poems as they were meant to be appreciated.
