Merry Humbug Christmas

Image
Description A Merry Humbug Christmas features two holiday romance novellas from hilarious and heartwarming author Sandra D. Bricker. -- the perfect gift to yourself or someone else at this most wonderfully stressful time of year. In "Once Upon a Jingle Bell," A Bah! Humbug cruise to the Mexican Riviera is Joss Snow’s answer to this year’s quest to avoid the holidays completely; at least until she’s rebooked on a different kind of cruise altogether. Candy canes, holly wreaths, reindeer and ornaments seem to be stalking her on the 12 Days of Christmas holiday cruise extravaganza. An escape back to land is her only goal . . . until she meets a kindred spirit in rugged Irishman Patrick Brenneman, and then the game is on! Avoid Christmas festivities at all costs . . . except maybe for that one stop under the mistletoe. In "It Came Upon a Midnight Deer," Reese’s guilt over abandoning best friend Joss on their holiday tradition of avoiding all things Christmas is tru

Review–The Christmas Train

Image
The Christmas Train by David Baldacci My rating: 5 of 5 stars Disclaimer: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation. There has always been a sense of nostalgia about trains. Thoughts of trains bring you back to days gone by, when times were simpler. Life may not have been easy back in the days when trains were the main form of mass transportation. But people had a sense of who they were, they knew what they wanted out of life, and most importantly, they took time out to savor what they did have. My own family’s history with trains is a long lived one. I have traced back a few generations on my mom’s side that were all railway men. I personally have not had the chance to ride the rails. However, after I read this story, wanderlust has set in. Unfortunately, I have no where to go, no money to travel, and no one to travel with. So I will have to content myself with traveling through my imagination. The Christmas

Review–Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas

Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas: A Perfect Fit Holiday Novella by Sugar Jamison My rating: 5 of 5 stars Disclaimer: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation. I had the pleasure of reviewing the first book in the series, Dangerous Curves Ahead, back in September. I am certainly glad that I didn't have to wait too long to get my hands on this novella. Just as I had thoroughly enjoyed Dangerous Curves Ahead, this book did not disappoint. Sugar Jamison has really mastered the craft of story telling. To be able to pack in such a story in only a few short pages (this book is novella length), is truly incredible. First, this book is about Dina and takes place about 2 years after Dangerous Curves Ahead. Dina had gotten pregnant and felt that she could no longer turn to her family since she had done nothing but behave like a spoiled brat in book one. However, being a mother has completely changed her. Sh

Review–The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap

The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap by Donna Kauffman My rating: 5 of 5 stars Disclaimer: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation. I love it when the holiday anthologies start to roll out. They are always such sweet, feel good stories. Several times, I have found authors that I had never heard of before. There was one major difference between this anthology and most that I have read. In the majority of them, there is a central "theme", but the stories are not interrelated. However, in this book, all three stories are interrelated and the prologue and epilogue tie them in together. So if you are one of those who skips the prologues and epilogues, make sure to read them in this book. I absolutely loved these stories. My favorite was definitely the Donna Kauffman story. Then again, she was already an author that I knew and loved. If you haven't read any of her Highlander series, then I suggest you ch

Holiday Guide: Tom & Jerry: Fur Flying Adventures

Whether you want someone to rekindle their youth by revisiting old cartoons they loved or you want to share your youth with your kids and grandkids, this is a wonderful DVD to buy. There are 14 different cartoons that brought me right back to my childhood years.  It was always fun to watch the antics of Tom racing around frantically trying to catch Jerry.  Meanwhile, Jerry was always just a little too smart to be caught.  Then there were the very few cartoons when they worked together to fight a common foe.  My great nieces loved this DVD.  They wanted to watch it over and over.  I enjoyed watching it with them since it really took me back to my childhood as well.  So it was nice to create that wonderful bond of sharing my past with them. Cupcake Cuties

Image
If you are looking for a fun way to dress up cupcakes, then you have to check out Cupcake Cuties .  They are so easy to use.  First off, bake your cupcakes as you normally would.  You can even use ones you buy at the grocery store if you don’t bake. Then you place one of the wraps around the base of the cupcake.  You ice your cupcake as directed.  Then you use whatever other decorations come with the kit.  There are kits for every occasion.  If you are hosting a baby shower, there are some really cute ones for that.  So whatever party you are throwing, you can always find the right way to dress up your cupcakes. We received the Happy Birthday ones to be used at Steve & Eddie Wayne’s birthday party.  Not only did the kids love them, but the adults as well.  Everyone was definitely enchanted by our cute cupcakes.   In conjunction with the Wakela's World Disclosure Statement , I received a product in order to enable my review. No other compensation has been received.

Review – Snapily

Product Review   Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Easter, Birthdays, and many other occasions allow us to show our love by getting that special someone just the right card.  I can spend hours at the store browsing cards to find just the right one.  And even then you wish it were just a little more. Well, I found out about Snapily and all I can say is WOW!  They have a ton of card templates to choose from.  You upload your favorite photos.  You choose what sentiments you want printed on the card.  It is 100% going to be you in that card. The card I designed is for my cousin & his wife in Canada.  It is a picture of his dad in the most relaxed setting possible.  By looking at the picture, you would think he didn’t have a care in the world.  This has always been their favorite picture.    Here is a video that Snapily provided.  Sponsored by Tomoson.com One great thing is that they not only have cards, but other items that can be personalized as well.  If you have a tee

Blessed Samhain

To most people, today is Halloween. However, today's holiday is steeped in history from many older religions. Some of these holidays occur at different times of the year. However, they all have similar themes. It is a time when they believe that the veil that separates this world and the spirit world is at its thinest. In Mexico, they celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos on November 1st and 2nd. They believe that these two days their deceased loved ones will rise up to come visit them. They hold all manor of festivities in honor of the deceased. They create pathways of flowers from the graves to their homes so that the deceased can find the way home. There are offerings left for the deceased. Ancient Celts celebrated October 31st as Samhain. Many modern day pagans still celebrate Samhain. This day is the Celtic new year. At this time of the year, we celebrate by holding rituals to honor the gods and goddesses of the dead as well as the deceased themselves. In some pagan grou

Samhain Night

Here is a poem that I wrote back in 2003 for Samhain. Samhain Night October 25, 2003 Darkness creeps in the land quiets down anticipation of visits as the veil thins Relatives long gone Coming by for a chat Their spirits are here with us Closer then ever before Love ones we have missed Others we are glad are gone Those not known to us All here to visit once more Witches celebrate Its the Celtic new year Time for change and transformation Time for renewal Shifting Changing Everything spinning As the Wheel of the Year starts again

Days End

Thankfully, today is finally drawing to a close. It just seemed to go on forever. Today at work was horrendous. I was stuck in the scheduling room with a bunch of morons. Since the manager and one of the two supervisors were out, they decided they didn't want to do any type of work. Even though company policy does not allow us to have any type of personal music playing, they continued to play it loudly while I was trying to help people on the phone. The one supervisor that was there just stood back powerless. She lets them run rough shod all over her. They two nimwits wouldn't answer phones. They didn't do anything but play. You would think we were back in high school with a substitute teacher. I was thankful when it was time for me to go take over the front desk for closing. Unfortunately, the girls who worked it during the early shift, forgot to mention that there were 4 patients signed in on the prior sheet. They had already highlighted someone on the top sheet.

Childs Play Charity

For ages, I have been reading an online comic called " Penny Arcade " about these gamers. Those who are gamers or who are friends of gamers will fully understand these comics. Anyway, the creators of this comic felt that as gamers, we are always being slighted in the media for the cause of many problems. They decided to create a charity to help children. This charity is really great. Its called Child's Play . They utilize Amazon to send items that are purchased to various children's hospitals for the holidays. Even if you aren't a gamer, this is a great charity to get involved with.
