Solomon’s Ring

Image
Book Description   At the highest levels of government, very mysteriously, certain members of the presidential chain of succession are found murdered.  However, these murders are not your ordinary murders; the presidential cabinet members’ bodies are found in a mummified condition – like they have been ceremonially prepared and entombed, by ancient Egyptians, for a thousand years.  For this to have occurred overnight is a complete mystery and complicates the investigation for FBI Agent Robert Cole. Government leaders fearful that this may be the work of foreign terrorists dispatch CIA Agent Amir Bloomberg to assist Agent Cole with the mysterious case. Agents Cole and Bloomberg soon find themselves in a race against a powerful supernatural entity stalking government leaders, sophisticated terrorists on the verge of creating a powerful weapon, and time to uncover the truth before the unspeakable happens and changes the world forever. Aaron & Keja: Time Dragon

Image
Book Description   Lord Ky'debaul has found his magic powers waning. He devises a plan to restore them by killing a silver dragon. This dragon is not just a silver dragon, it is a time dragon. But in order for him to do this, he must send the dragon to another world where there are no laws written against killing a Time Dragon. The world he happens by chance to send the dragon to is Aaron Gillian's world. Book Review   This should have been a quick read considering the length of it.  However, one of the things that kept tripping me up was the lack of finesse when it comes to writing.  The author’s ideas were great.  She knew where her plot was going and how she wanted to get there.  However, I don’t feel that she has the knowledge yet to be able to get her from point A to point B and take the reader along with her. I am sure if she has the opportunity to work with someone skilled in writing, they could help to guide her along the path to help culminate her ideas

Chasing Faeries

Image
Book Description   Through the tiny golden door that opens somewhere in childhood, enter a place called Appletwist Garden... Calla Rose has always believed in faeries. Lying in her bed she would listen for hours to her grandmother's wonderful tales of faeries that lived in an enchanting land somewhere through the nearby wishing well. Now in her tenth year, Calla Rose begins to realize that maybe there is more to the stories than she thought. When unexpected visitors pop up in her grandmother's garden, a choice must be made that could change her life forever. Book Review   This was such a delightful story.  The characters were all sweet and the story was purely divine.  Even though it is geared toward a much more younger read, anyone would be caught up in the tale of ten year old Calla Rose and her search for the faeries.  The descriptions used in this book make you feel like you can truly see the faeries alongside of Calla Rose.  You can also feel her exaspe

Jilly-Bean

Image
Book Description   Temperatures are rising and superstition reigns supreme! Eighteen year old Jillian Crossland has her life planned out. Or so she thinks! Despite her better judgement, a sĂ©ance one evening sets a blueprint for disaster when fate steps in and shakes up her plans and her life! Jilly-Bean is a novel that explores contemporary life in the throes of global warming and on the edge of madness. Book Review   This story was very much character driven.  The plot was slow to start and was very convoluted in many places.  However, the characters were well thought out and very well rounded. I had problems trying to stay focused on reading.  There were many times when the story became too overly descriptive and my mind would end up wandering elsewhere.  It was a nice story.  However, it never really drew me into it.   It just felt like it was going nowhere.   Jilly-Bean (Jilly-Bean Series # 1): Celia Vogel: Kindle Store ASIN : B007UP2VD2 In conjunction w

Staying Human

Image
Book Description   This is the story of your past, your present, and if all goes well...your future. My name is Jack; I've lived for the past 500 years without knowledge of what or who I am, and now that I'm slowly finding out... it's not looking good. There is someone... or something... that is guiding us to the brink of destruction and I seem to be the only one that knows about it. Book Review   This book had a lot of promise.  The plot was well thought out.  The characters were pretty well rounded.  The problem lies in the actual writing of the story.  This was given to me by the author as a finished product, not an ARC.  So one would think that it would be a much more polished work.  However, it was fraught with misspellings, verb tense issues, and much more. One of the biggest issues that I had witnessed was the fact that the author has trouble staying in the same point of view throughout the story.  It seems that he had every intention of writing the b

Night of the Purple Moon

Image
Book Description   Space germs wipe out virtually everyone who has passed through puberty. Abby Leigh is looking forward to watching the moon turn purple. For months, astronomers have been predicting that Earth will pass through the tail of a comet. They say that people will see colorful sunsets and, best of all, a purple moon. But nobody has predicted the lightning-fast epidemic that sweeps across the planet on the night of the purple moon. The comet brings space dust with it that contains germs that attack human hormones. Older teens and adults die within hours of exposure. On a small island off the coast of Maine, Abby must help her brother and baby sister survive in this new world, but all the while she has a ticking time bomb inside of her -- adolescence. Book Review   At first, I was dismayed to see that this book was written with such sparse details.  However, after I really started getting into it, I realized that the sparse details were in direct correlation

Hepen The Watcher

Image
Book Description   The demon Dismay’s murderous nature has earned him the ire of his beloved wife, who has sent him away in a fit of temper. In his exile he ventures south into the land of Lutawa, drawn there by the prayers of abused and desperate women who beg him to grant them vengeance against the men who cruelly rule their lives—and Dismay is pleased to do it. Still, murder is hard and dirty work. When an avid desire for a bath brings him to a fine Lutawan estate, he meets two beautiful young women. Ui and Eleanor are well-acquainted with the whispered tales of the demon Dismay, who slays men but never women, and they’re delighted to entertain their fearsome guest, but they warn him to beware. Believing this king to be the same cruel deity known in the north as Hepen the Watcher, Dismay resolves to kill him—and accidentally draws Ui and Eleanor into his schemes. Those

Harper Madigan: The Junior High Private Eye

Image
Book Description   7th grade detective Harper Madigan works alone . He doesn't need the vice principal assigning him a new partner to keep him in line, especially a stuffed-shirt wannabe-journalist who totally cramps his style. And he especially doesn’t need his troublemaker ex-girlfriend showing up out the blue and asking for his help. She’s accused of attacking the star of the school musical, and with her less-than-sparkling track record, she’s only one suspension away from getting expelled. Only Harper believes she’s innocent, and now it’s up to him to prove it, even if it means making an enemy of the PTA mafia, risking his agency, and confronting the mistakes of his own dark past. But when his new partner insists on doing everything by the book, and his old nemesis–the one bully he can’t catch–starts harassing his clients, it’s going to take more than just detective work to solve the case. Book Review   This book was a delightful read.  It may be geared towards

Fatal Storm

Image
Book Description   The Indiana Paranormal Investigators are spending a night in a gothic mansion on the outskirts of Cedar Point, Indiana. Four people are participating...only three remain in the morning. There have been other disappearances and homicides in the past related to the mansion. And the one common denominator has been the weather. FATAL STORM finds Dagger and his entourage spending a night at the mansion to seek answers. But they get more than they bargain for as another storm builds on the horizon. This is the fifth book in the Chase Dagger series which combines mystery with elements of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Book Review   Even though this is the fifth book in the series, I did not feel lost at all.  I like when an author is capable of writing a series where each book can be read by itself and still stand on its own merits. Lee Driver has created a wonderful mystery that sucked me into the drama from the beginning.  There are great characters, tons of t
