Review - Buyer, Beware
Disclaimer: I received this book free from Polyester Press in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation.
First, I found it humorous that a cozy mystery where the main character is a buyer for high fashion stores is published by a company called Polyester Press.
I had previously bought and read the first book in this series. So when I saw that this book was available for review on NetGalley, I clicked away without a moment's hesitation.
Even though I had read the first book, I can tell you that this book is very much independent of it. The author was able to pull off character creation and plot line without using the first book as a crutch.
The story starts out with unemployed Samantha teaming up with her long time friend Eddie to pull off a "heist" in order to win a contest at a new store. Eddie failed to mention that he invited Samantha's enemy Cat & her brother Dante to help. The "heist" goes down without a hitch. However, while at the new store for the gala grand opening, Samantha finds a body.
The mystery was a very quick read. I loved the sass that Diane Vallere had added to Samantha. There were great plot twists and red herrings thrown in along the way. I ended up reading this book in one sitting since I just didn't want to put it down!
