Review–A Fatal Likeness

Disclaimer: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation.

Being a great lover of Romantic Period literature, I was drawn to this book.  I love reading their stories and reading stories about them.  I have even watched the movie Gothic which is about the night that Mary Shelley came up with the idea for Frankenstein.

However, I just could not really get into this book.  The prose was extremely dry and tedious to read.   There was too much flitting back and forth with perspective and time.  It was actually hard to keep track at times.  I don’t feel that Maddox was well fleshed out in this book.  Then again, this was the second book that she utilized that character.  So she may have felt that since he was fleshed out in the first one, she needn’t have done it again.  However, an author should never assume that a reader will start with book one.

This book had shown so much promise.  I just feel in my opinion that it was poorly executed.  I really would have liked to have enjoyed it.
