Review–Embracing The Spirits

Disclaimer: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not receive any form of compensation.

Barbara Parks talks about how she was traumatized as a young adult by a poltergeist.  I can relate to this.  As a child, I encountered a not so friendly spirit up in my grandma’s attic.  Now this wasn’t an ordinary attic, her house was built in the 1800s and it was like an oversized room that you climbed a few steps up to gain access.  That house had been besieged with spirits for a very long time.  I know that on the grounds of the house, they found old musket pellets and old indian arrowheads.  The arrowheads were discolored as if they had dried blood or something.  Anyway, this experience in the attic caused me to shut myself down from spirits for many years.   I am still trying to overcome some of the limitations that my fear placed on me.

This book shows how Barbara overcomes her fears and is able to communicate with those on the other side.

I know that many people have issues with talk of the Ouija board.  I myself have used them.  Yes, you can pull in dark entities, but you can also pull in others as well.  It is all about making sure you have proper protection when utilizing this tool.

She also discusses using pendulums in order to assist in the contacting of spirits.  This was something that I hadn’t actually considered previously.

One of the things that she talks about is facing your fears in order to conquer them.  Unfortunately, visiting my grandma’s farmhouse is no longer possible for me.  Maybe I can use some other technique to face that specific fear that shut me down.

I love it when I am able to read a book such as this and can see the direct implications towards my life.  These weren’t just some random stories to me.  These were guidelines that I could actually use to open up myself to spirit once again.
