Weight Loss For People Who Feel Too Much

Description

From internationally renowned intuitive counselor, life coach, motivational speaker, and author Colette Baron-Reid, a four-step, eight-week program for managing empathy overload--the hidden cause of unwanted weight gain

Through her own personal experience and work with thousands of clients, Colette Baron-Reid understands the real reason many of us struggle to lose weight and keep it off. It isn't that we don't know what to eat or that we don't have enough willpower; it's that we are responding to feeling too much.

Weight Loss for People Who Feel Too Much focuses on the keys to weight loss for sensitive people: managing empathy, setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, eating to support well-being, and dealing with challenging situations that can trigger disordered eating. With a simple, practical program, Colette shows you how to release the extra pounds and create a new, healthy relationship with your body, your weight, and food.

Review

One thing that most “diet” books never take into account is that sometimes we eat because of our emotions.  So it is all fine and dandy to tell someone how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat.  But they don’t tell you what to do when you are struggling and eating is one of the ways that help you to cope.

Thankfully, this book really helps to address that and so much more.  I know for me that most of the weight that I have is part of 2 things.  First, it is from my auto immune disease.  That part can be taken care of with the proper diet which doesn’t really help when I stress eat.  The second is from my emotions.  My auto immune disease adds a ton of stress to my life.  Add in other stresses that I have and it really bogs me down.

I have always been an emotional eater.  That was a trait that I learned when I was young.  My dad would have to get me out of bed at 10:30 PM when I was little so we could go pick up my mom from work.  He would feel guilty about doing that so we would stop by a convenience store on the way to buy me some candy.  Yea smart thing to do at that time of night.  Give the kid some sugar.  Well, I would sit in the back seat chomping away on my goodies while we drove to pick her up.

Then I also had really bad ear infections as a kid.  My mom would feel horrible for the pain that I would go through so she would bake me cookies.  Again, probably not the healthiest thing to do.  Finally when I was a teen, my dad died from cancer.  My friends would ply me with tons of pizza, tacos, and any other junk food that I wanted.

So as you can see, it is a nasty habit that I got myself into.  I eat when sad, happy, stressed, tired, in pain, etc.

This book helped me really take a closer look at my triggers and attempt to come to terms with them.  I know that I still have a long way to work through some of the issues that were brought up because of it, but I have at least made a huge improvement.

So if you are like most people, you have developed some eating habits that can be tied into emotions.  This book will help cut away the emotional strings that cause you to go back to those nasty eating habits.
