Inspiration for the Young at Heart

Image
Book Description   Life begins again at 60! Crossing that magic age might bring a few new wrinkles but also new experiences. This collection is full of humorous and fun adventures from those who are actively enjoying their "senior years!" Book Review   Once again, the Chicken Soup for the Soul team has put together a great collection of short stories.  Even though I am quite a bit younger then the intended reader of this particular volume, I still enjoyed each and every story.  They were tender, endearing, and heartfelt. So if you have a special someone in your life who has reached the milestone of 60, then I suggest you give them this book to show them that life is not even close to being over!  In fact, the journey is just beginning. Starting with her own family . . . Book Review   This was a really quaint story set in a charming town.  I really enjoyed this book greatly.  The characters were well developed.  The descriptions of the Siuslaw River were incredible.  The story did have a few slow moving spots, but it was still a nice story and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Tea

Image
Product Description   ABOUT THIS BLEND An aromatic sweet cinnamon tea with hints of orange. Our full flavored signature blend offers up a rich, spicy fragrance followed by a sweet, warming, clean taste without added sugar. INGREDIENTS Black tea, artificial flavor, rosehips, chamomile, cinnamon, lemongrass, peppermint, jasmine tea, papaya leaves, anise seed, ginger root, orange peel and orange oil. Product Review   We drink herbal teas A LOT in our household.  I think a lot of that is due to having a British heritage.  My family has always had the propensity to drink tea over coffee. This tea has become the new favorite in our house.  The flavors don’t overpower each other.  In fact, they all blend in so wonderfully together.  One thing that I loved about it was that while the tea is still in the mouth, you get the sweet & spicy tastes together.  Then just as it is going down your throat, you get a little zing from the cinnamon.  It was so heavenly delicious.

This Mobius Strip of Ifs

Book Description   In this impressive and varied collection of creative essays, Mathias B. Freese jousts with American culture. A mixture of the author's reminiscences, insights, observations, and criticism, This Mobius Strip of Ifs examines the use and misuse of psychotherapy, childhood trauma, complicated family relationships, his frustration as a teacher, and the enduring value of tenaciously writing through it all. Freese scathingly describes the conditioning society imposes upon artists and awakened souls. Whether writing about the spiritual teacher Krishnamurti, poet and novelist Nikos Kazantzakis, or film giants such as Orson Welles and Buster Keaton, the author skewers where he can and applauds those who refuse to compromise and conform. The profound visceral truths in this book will speak to anyone who endeavors to be completely alive and aware. Book Review   This wonderful book of short essays not only takes you through the ifs in Mathias Freese’s life, bu

Sun Chips 6 Grain Medley Parmesan & Herb

Image
Product Review   I received several snack sized bags from the Frito Lay company to try out of their new Sun Chips 6 Grain Medley Parmesan & Herb flavored chips. According to the bag, the chips contain corn, wheat, oats, brown rice, buckwheat & quinoa.  The flavor that I got to try was Parmesan & Herb. The chips were wonderfully crunchy.  They definitely satisfied my hunger.  I especially loved the flavor.  It wasn’t too overpowering as I find many of the flavored chips are.  These had just the right amount of seasoning on each chip. What a nice way to enjoy a healthy snack. These are perfect to pack in lunches or even pop a snack sized bag into your purse.  They are the perfect pick me up whenever you need it. Billie felt as if she’d been wrenched in half more surely than when the baby had been cut from her body. But she felt something else too: happy to think only of her own needs, her own tears. So light she could float away, somewhere no one would ever find her. The present. Even if Cait never found her birth mother, even if she decided not to have this baby, to leave her lover and kiss her parents good-bye, she was surrounded by so much emotion, so many questions, that she felt as if she might never be free again. In a complex and beautifully told masterpiece set against key moments for women in the last century, New York Times bestselling author Pamela Redm
